Who are you?
I provide something unique. Almost everyone says something like this upon hearing my music: "I've never heard anything remotely like this", "this is really different most of what's out there". Where does this originality come from? The answer may be disappointing for some. It is not easy to endeavor be like someone if you do not like what they are doing. It's not easy to find music that I like especially in today's music world. There are some artists who love the music of their idols and in their own songs, try to reach the standards of their heroes. I write music to escape from everything else, to attempt to fix the wrongs that I find abundant in all kinds of music. Cynical as this approach may sound, I believe it is part of the answer to why I have developed such a unique artistic voice. But their is another quality that I possess that is perhaps even more important: self-confidence. I believe in myself and I believe in my music. In time, I believe that I will be known as one of the greatest if not the greatest songwriter of all time. I draw from a huge experience of music that includes classical, jazz, Latin, pop, African, and more and use it to create a unique intellectual and emotional experience that no one else can.
Where are you from?
I am from Baton Rouge Louisiana. My experience with the Baton Rouge music scene is somewhat limited and it probably exerts little to know influence in my art. There are many great musicians at the LSU School of Music playing classical, jazz, and pop music. I was able to get my song Road Racer together with LSU students. But my inspirations come primarily from classical and jazz composers who I have studied as a pianist.
